Ups and downs of coast-to-coast parenting
By -- Sun Media

Jill Hennessy sometimes wonders what impact her "bi-coastal" lifestyle is having on her three-year-old son.

"Bi-coastal -- it sounds like it reflects upon open sexuality," Hennessy said. "Oh lord, I can't believe we're talking about this."

Hennessy actually was referring to the fact that the bulk of her TV work has been in Los Angeles, while technically her full-time home is in New York with her husband and their toddler.

"My husband's family is (in New York) and it's closer to Toronto, so I can see my family easily," said Hennessy, who will be inducted into Canada's Walk of Fame next weekend. "But it's hard to enrol my son in anything that's consistent."

Then again, Hennessy's son has been able to learn all sorts of things about TV production and recording music because of his presence at her various job sites.

"I'd like to think it's good," Hennessy said. "I'm just hoping I don't catch him with a pack of cigarettes and a bottle of Johnnie Walker someday. Well, at least not within the next few months."
