George Carlin’s appearance may have changed through the decades, but one thing that didn’t change was his razor-sharp wit.
The Comedy Network offers a standup double-dip with the late and legendary comedian beginning tonight, when it airs George Carlin: On Location at USC. It was filmed in 1977.
Then, a week from tonight, the Comedy Network presents George Carlin: It’s Bad For Ya. It was filmed in 2008, just before Carlin’s death at age 71.
To pique your interest, here’s what Carlin had to say about two people meeting on the street and discussing the death of an acquaintance in It’s Bad For Ya:
“One of them says, ‘Hey, did you hear? Phil Davis died.’ ‘Phil Davis? I just saw him yesterday.’ ‘Yeah? Didn’t help. He died anyway. Apparently, the simple act of you seeing him did not slow his cancer down. In fact, it may have made it more aggressive. You know, you could be the cause for Phil’s death. How do you live with yourself?’ ”
