‘Dog’ Chapman avoids charges

TV bounty hunter Duane ‘Dog’ Chapman will not face charges over an April incident in which a man allegedly fired a gun at him, after the suspect's lawyer accused the star of making false accusations.

Chapman, known on U.S. TV as Dog The Bounty Hunter, and bail bondsman Bobby Brown were in pursuit of Hoang Nguyen in Colorado when the fugitive reportedly shot a handgun in their direction.

The pair fired back with paintball guns as Nguyen fled the scene on a motorcycle, and he was later arrested and charged with attempted homicide.

But no weapon or bullet casings were found on Nguyen's person and the case fell apart due to lack of evidence.

Nguyen's lawyer, William Schoewe, filed a motion with a Colorado court arguing Chapman should face felony charges himself for making the shooting allegations in a bid to boost publicity for the show.

But his request was dismissed by State District Judge J. Patrick Kelly on Monday and prosecutors will not be pressing charges against Chapman.
