PASADENA, Calif. - Sci-fi fans, young and old, were partying all night long in their parents' basements.
Battlestar Galactica, the highly acclaimed science-fiction series that wrapped up last spring, was named program of the year at the 25th annual Television Critics Association awards. Battlestar Galactica aired on Space in Canada.
Also, having been largely snubbed by the Emmys, True Blood got a measure of redemption courtesy of the TCA by winning the award for outstanding new program. True Blood originates on HBO and airs north of the border on HBO Canada.
Of the nine TCA awards given to current programming, HBO led the way with three wins.

Outstanding achievement in drama: Mad Men (AMC).
Outstanding achievement in comedy: The Big Bang Theory (CBS).
Outstanding new program: True Blood (HBO).
Individual achievement in drama: Bryan Cranston, Breaking Bad (AMC).
Individual achievement in comedy: Jim Parsons, The Big Bang Theory (CBS).
Outstanding achievement in news and information: The Alzheimer's Project (HBO).
Outstanding achievement in children's programming: Yo Gabba Gabba (Nickelodeon).
Outstanding achievement in movies, mini-series and specials: Grey Gardens (HBO).
Heritage award: ER (NBC).
Career-achievement award: Betty White.
The ceremony, held at the Langham Huntington Hotel & Spa in Pasadena, was introduced by Chelsea Handler, host of E!'s Chelsea Lately.
Founded in 1978, the Television Critics Association includes more than 200 reporters and columnists in print and internet media from the United States and Canada.
