John, Paul, George and Ringo are taking over CTV.
The new documentary The Beatles on Record, which complements the recent release of the band’s entire catalogue in both mono and stereo CD sets, will make its Canadian debut on Friday, Dec. 4 on CTV.
The Beatles on Record is narrated entirely by the four band members — Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr, the late John Lennon and the late George Harrison — and producer George Martin. It even features never-before-heard outtakes of studio chat from the Beatles’ earliest recording sessions at Abbey Road studios in London, England.
With a recent Beatles edition of the Rock Band videogame, not to mention the Cirque du Soleil show Love in Las Vegas and the new remastered CD packages, the Fab Four’s legacy never has been more alive.
For those who like videogames, the Beatles’ Rock Band edition has garnered rave reviews, as has the Love show. The new CD sets are a treasure as well, especially when one considers that the Beatles’ absolute priority in the 1960s was the mono mix — sometimes Martin wasn’t even around for the stereo mix, which might occur weeks later!
The Beatles on Record does not delve into any of the personal drama or issues that eventually broke up the band, opting instead to keep its focus largely on the music.
