Hollywood stars Eric Dane and Rebecca Gayheart have become first-time parents - the actress gave birth to a baby girl in Los Angeles on Wednesday.

Dane revealed the sex of his baby in a recent interview, but insisted he and his wife would wait to see their daughter before naming her.

He explained, "Rebecca wants to see her before we start calling her it... You want to make sure the name sticks."

But he confirmed the pair have had a couple of names in mind for some time - and neither are bizarre showbusiness names: "We went straight down the middle."
