Hasselbeck supports gay marriage
By Mikey O'Connell, Zap2It.com
The "View" co-host often gets branded as the ultimate conservative -- mostly for sharing a panel with some very liberal ladies -- but Elisabeth Hasselbeck wants people to know that she doesn't see everything in black and white, even if it loses her a few supporters. Case in point: gay marriage. Many would believe the active Republican is opposed to extending marital rights to same-sex couples, but they would be wrong. "I think the gay marriage thing would definitely surprise people," she tells Fancast. "I mean, for some people, it will surprise them to the point that they won't want to hear it. "No, that can't be, I really want to have this sort of idea of her in my head," so I sort of rain on their parade there." And the rain may have already begun. Examiner reports that her recent comments have drawn public condemnations from anti-gay groups, going as far as calling her religious into question. Don't plan on any backpedaling on Hasselbeck's part. She's never been one to back down from her opinions -- no matter where they fall on the political spectrum. |
