New York comedian Robert Schimmel, best known for his appearances on Howard Stern's radio show and Late Night With Conan O'Brien, succumbed to his injuries Friday night after being in a car crash in Arizona last Thursday.
He was riding in a car with his 11-year-old son and 19-year-old daughter Aliyah when she swerved to avoid an oncoming vehicle. The car flipped multiple times, sending both to hospital. Aliyah is currently in stable condition and his son was released without injuries. Two days after the crash, he wrote on his Facebook fan page, "The rumors of my demise are greatly exaggerated. Stay tuned!"
In 2008, Schimmel chronicled his long battle with non-Hodgkin lymphoma in his memoir, "Cancer on $5 a Day."
Schimmel's official site says that he was supposed to be performing improv in Kansas City, Mo. over the long weekend.
