Lost Girl would benefit from some role reversal, in terms of both the title and the setup.

The new Canadian fantasy series, which debuts Sunday, Sept. 12 on Showcase, stars Anna Silk as a Succubus named Bo with an identity crisis - a.k.a. the “lost girl” - and Ksenia Solo as the young human sidekick named Kenzi.

Here’s what struck us while watching the pilot:

Make no mistake, Silk is hot. But she is a “woman” in every positive way, not a “girl.”

And we’re not just being nit-picky about the title. Bo does not really come across as “lost,” per se. She may have queries about her origin, but she is a powerful, protective, take-charge creature, right from the opening sequence.

Solo, meanwhile, has a lot of natural spark, and her character Kenzi seems to be more “lost” - in an interesting, quirky way, not a sad way - than Bo.

So do you know what would have made for a stronger series?

Kenzi has the unexplained powers and is the “lost girl.” Bo is her tough, butt-kicking mentor.

Too late?
