American TV icon Andy Griffith has been laid to rest in North Carolina, just hours after his death.
Reports suggest an ambulance was called to the star's home in Roanoke Island in the early hours of Tuesday to tend to a medical emergency, and he was transported to a nearby hospital, where he was subsequently declared dead, according to TMZ.com.
Now, a representative from Twiford Funeral Homes in Manteo confirms the legendary star's body was buried on his family farm, less than five hours after he was hospitalised, as per Griffith's wishes.
A small, private service was held prior to the burial with only his closest friends and family in attendance.
