'SNL': Sudeikis staying 'til Jan.

Jason Sudeikis’ “Saturday Night Live” cohorts can stop working on their Mitt Romney impressions: Sudeikis will stay with the show “at least until January,” Lorne Michaels says.

Michaels, the show’s creator and executive producer, didn’t rule out the possibility of Sudeikis remaining on the show through the entire season, which begins with Saturday’s episode. The announcement means Sudeikis and his Romney impersonation will at least be around through the presidential election.

“Right now the idea is that Jason will go through at least until January,” Michaels told The New York Times. “He’s a fiercely loyal guy, both to the show and to me.”

Sudeikis’ fate has been in question since the exit of Kristen Wiig, Andy Samberg and Abby Elliott at the end of last season. Sudeikis’ contract was also up.

The news comes soon after “SNL” announced that it has added three performers with Second City ties as featured players. Aidy Bryant, Tim Robinson and Cecily Strong will join the show with Saturday’s 38th “SNL” season premiere, hosted by Seth MacFarlane and featuring musical guest Frank Ocean.
