Cowell, Pinkett Smith scrap show

Simon Cowell and Jada Pinkett Smith (WENN.COM)

Jada Pinkett Smith and Simon Cowell have scrapped their planned talent show hunt for a new superstar DJ.

Pinkett-Smith and her husband Will Smith's production company Overbrook Entertainment was set to team up with Cowell's Syco Entertainment to create a new TV concept to find the next big club idol.

Speaking about his excitement on working with the actress on the project earlier this year, Cowell said, "As soon as I met Jada and Miguel (her associate)... I knew they would be our ideal partners... DJs are the new rock stars. It feels like the right time to make this show."

However, the pair has dropped the program after allegedly failing to agree on who would receive top billing on the show's credits, according to New York Post gossip column Page Six.

A representative for Syco tells the publication, "Syco and Overbrook decided not to proceed together on a DJ-competition show."
