30 Rock actor Alec Baldwin desperately tried to convince 30 Rock series creator and co-star Tina Fey to keep the hit comedy series running for an eighth season by offering to take a hefty pay cut.
TV bosses at U.S. network NBC confirmed in May that the seventh season of the show would be its last and although Baldwin has repeatedly hinted over the years that he's ready to quit the sitcom to focus on other work, he admits he made an impassioned plea to 30 Rock executives in a last-ditch attempt to keep the program on air.
In a Twitter.com post on Thursday, hours before the final season's U.S. premiere, the actor writes, "I offered NBC to cut my pay 20% in order to have a full 7th and 8th seasons of 30 Rock. I realize times have changed."
Baldwin has since accepted that there is nothing he can do to change Fey's mind about bringing the show to an end, but the newlywed is "looking forward to some time off" after exchanging vows with yoga instructor Hilaria Thomas in June.
