Feeling sorry for Brody Jenner
By LINDA MASSARELLA, Special to QMI Agency

It's not too easy to feel sympathy for a good looking, multi-millionaire, largely unemployed playboy known for getting into bar fights. But in this case, sympathies are kinda due for Brody Jenner.

Since Canadian singer Avril Lavigne dumped her handsome boyfriend's derriere just after Christmas, the 29-year-old Brody Jenner (who's related by marriage to the mega reality TV family the Kardashians) hasn't had much going on.

"To be blunt, nobody cares about him anymore," said videographer Richard Terry with the paparazzi website X-17, who supplies celebrity gossip TV shows and celebrity magazines with videos and pictures.

"We used to follow him when he was with Avril, but now that that relationship is over, pictures of him aren't selling."

Ouch!

While with the very famous Avril during their two-year relationship, Jenner, who's father is Olympian Bruce Jenner, was on top of the world.

Brody was routinely taking calls from modeling agencies, while public relations crews promised to pay him thousands of dollars just to show his gorgeous face at a party. He was approached more than once by TV producers for a new reality TV show (he's already done a few, including The Hills) as long as he could convince his new singer girlfriend to come on air.

Lavigne fans always believed the Ska8er Boi singer was in a protracted slumming phase when she moved to Hollywood in the mid 2000s, left her decent and artistic husband Deryck Whibley of Sum 41, and began hanging with the spoiled, trust-fund crowd of Paris Hilton, bad boy Brandon Davis, and Brody Jenner.

Although she got into the fashion business with her Abbey Dawn line of clothing, it seemed music took a back seat to her new life with Jenner and it took her about two years to put together her latest album.

Though the lovers were so smitten as to tattoo each other's names on their bodies, Jenner was also feeling held back by the relationship, apparently.

"Every time he wanted to come back and take meetings to get his career back in order, she would make him go to Asia and Europe (with her)," an insider told US Weekly shortly after the breakup. Apparently it was Avril who wore the pants in the relationship and kept vetoing Jenner's multiple TV offers. (Again, the TV offers were conditional that he bring Avril along, so no wonder"¦)

The source predicted Jenner's career would fly as soon as he had time to work on it.

Well, it's been eight months since the break-up and Jenner isn't quite yet back on his feet.

Jenner's newest venture is deejaying. This past Saturday, he and Rob Kardashian (a step-brother) were headliners at a pool party at Harrah's Resort in Atlantic City.

Meanwhile, it seems there's tattoo removal and a wedding in the cards for Avril, who thankfully seems to have recovered from her bizarre period of Hollywood insanity and is finally (finally!) with someone as cool as she is -- Nickleback's Chad Kroeger

Do you think Lavigne will invite all her old Hollywood friends, including Jenner, Paris Hilton and Brandon Davis, to her upcoming rock and roll wedding with Kroeger?
