Fans support Blue Bloods' Esposito

Fans of Jennifer Esposito have launched an online petition lobbying TV producers of hit cop drama Blue Bloods to reinstate the star to the show or release the actress from her contract after placing her on indefinite medical leave.

Esposito, who played series regular Jackie Curatola, has been temporarily written out of the show after asking production bosses at U.S. network CBS if she could cut back her shooting schedule after collapsing on set.

They allegedly refused, even though the actress suffers from Celiac Disease, an autoimmune disorder which affects her overall health.

The Latina ranted about her work struggle in a series of posts on her Twitter.com page last week, telling fans: "CBS PUT me on unpaid leave and has blocked me from working anywhere else after my doctor said you needed a reduced schedule due to Celiac (Disease). CBS didn't listen to my doc and I collapsed on set...

"It's been almost two months without bringing me back to work + keeping Me from working anywhere else! Absolutely shameful behavior."

Now her number one fan, Jennifer Harris, has drawn attention to Esposito's struggle by setting up a petition on change.org.

In her online appeal, Harris writes, "We need to make our voices heard and help get Jennifer back to work. Please sign this petition and encourage others who have autoimmune diseases to do the same. This type of discrimination is appalling and it needs to be addressed."

Esposito is well aware of the petition: she re-tweeted a link to the fan's change.org initiative on Twitter.com.
