'Bell' star blasts bipolar reports

Saved By The Bell star Lark Voorhies has fired back at reports she has been diagnosed with bipolar disorder in a bizarre new TV interview.

The former child star, now 38, agreed to sit down with news show Entertainment Tonight and discuss remarks her mother Tricia made to People magazine last month.

She told the publication that the actress, who played fashion-loving teen Lisa Turtle on the beloved U.S. sitcom, had been struggling with erratic behaviour for years, and was prescribed medication to help deal with the mental illness.

But her daughter insists she is not bipolar, not seeing a doctor and not taking medication.

In a taped interview with Entertainment Tonight, which aired on Thursday, the actress addressed the story calmly - until reporter Christina McLarty brought up the People magazine story and the quotes attributed to her mother.

Voorhies started rambling incoherently, stating, “It’s a small opinionata (sic) that is getting blown thoroughly out of proportion. I have no stating (sic) reasons why anyone should worry about me. I mean clearly I am a very strong, top of the line, always rising to it, personage and I have no worries myself, nor do I exude, exhibit or possess within my living stratus (sic) any reason why someone should worry on my behalf.”

People editors are standing by their story and Entertainment Tonight producers have drafted in a psychologist to analyze the actress’ behaviour in the interview. His verdict will feature on Friday’s edition of the news show.
