10 must-see animated TV shows

When The Simpsons debuted in 1989, some folks questioned the wisdom of airing an animated series in prime time. That kind of stuff might have worked in the days of The Flintstones, but nobody wants to watch cartoon sitcoms now!
That was then. Today, we have The Simpsons chugging through its 24th season, making it the longest-running scripted show in TV history. We've got Seth MacFarlane promising that a movie version of Family Guy is in the works, with a storyline that just couldn't be done on the already-raunchy TV show. And we've got relatively recent additions to TV's animated landscape finding great success, such as FX's spy sitcom Archer, recently renewed for a fourth season.
It's a golden era for animation, but if your awareness of TV 'toons ends with Homer Simpson, you're missing out. Here are 10 must-see, still-in-production animated shows and the reasons why you should be watching them.
