Campbell prepared for 'Amish' role
By Bill Harris, QMI Agency
Neve Campbell claims she didn't have a ton of knowledge about the Amish community prior to her role in An Amish Murder. But perhaps she was better prepared than most actresses would be.
"Coming from Canada, we had the Mennonite communities living near us," said Campbell, who grew up in Guelph, Ont. "I would see them at the farmers' markets. I remember as a child being really intrigued and curious at the idea that they lived without electricity and cars. How do they do that? But also fascinated by their faith and their community and their kindness. I remember them being really nice.
"My uncle actually built a house by hand without electric tools. I'm not sure if he's crazy. A wonderful artist. He just decided to build a house in the old Amish way. The Mennonite teenagers from the nearby community, their parents sent them over to my uncle, to learn the old ways from him.
