Tate Stevens, a 37-year-old former highway worker from Belton, Mo., has won Season 2 of The X Factor.

The country crooner triumphed over 13-year-old Carly Rose Sonenclar and girl group Fifth Harmony to take home the grand prize, a $5 million recording contract.

"First and foremost, I gotta thank the man upstairs for taking care of me," Stevens said. "My family, all the country music fans, God bless you."

Thursday night’s two-hour, holiday-themed finale included musical performances by One Direction and Pitbull, and brief appearances from the show’s previously eliminated contestants.
