Cycling fan Patrick Dempsey has given up sex as he prepares for a 100-mile bike ride.

The Grey's Anatomy star, 46, admits his new celibacy has helped him focus on his athletic goal.

The actor, who married wife Jillian Fink in 1999, tells the Globe, "It's easier to focus on my training plans. My longest ride so far has been 75 miles."

And he admits, "Yes, shaving my legs has done wonders for my riding."

The enterprising star also hopes to turn his hobby into a career: "I'd love to open a bike shop in Malibu (California) that's a hang-out for cyclists."
