New Dallas villain has big boots to fill
By BILL HARRIS, QMI Agency

The cast of Dallas

John Ross is the boss.

Not literally. As season two of the new Dallas kicks off Monday, Jan. 28 across Canada on Bravo, John Ross isn't the boss of Ewing Energies. But he wants to be.

In a narrative sense, though, John Ross Ewing, played by Josh Henderson, definitely is the boss. The new Dallas succeeds or fails based on what you think of the adult son of J.R.

Originating on U.S. cable channel TNT, Dallas is a continuation of the legendary original series that aired on CBS from 1978 to 1991. There's a vast ensemble cast, but the modern series primarily focuses on the rivalry between John Ross and his cousin Christopher Ewing, played by Jesse Metcalfe.

The rivalry is an offshoot of the competition between John Ross' dad J.R., played by the late Larry Hagman, and Christopher's dad Bobby, played by Patrick Duffy.
