'Bachelor' tries roller derby romance
By Samie Durnford, QMI Agency

This week on The Bachelor...

The show started off with a one-on-one date with Selma, a girl we haven’t heard much of. He wants to take her out of her comfort zone so he takes her rock climbing. He succeeds in making her uncomfortable as Selma doesn’t hold back, complaining about being outside, hot, and doing something active. She survives.

Once they get into something more “comfortable” for their romantic trailer park dinner, Selma tells Sean about her conservative and “strict” Arabic family and customs. So much so, she won’t kiss him on television since her mom is already unhappy she’s even on the show.

Maybe it’s because she’s the first one to turn down a kiss, or maybe because he actually likes her (like he likes every other girl), she wins the date rose and Sean tells the camera he can see her being “the one”. Sure, Sean. Her and 10 other girls.

For the group date, Sean takes the girls to the roller derby where they duke it out in the ring. An accident waiting to happen, you might think? Well, you’ve got it right. Amanda falls and hurts her jaw. Luckily, it wasn’t broken like they all thought.

She admittedly decided to “milk” the injury for all it’s worth and Sean fell for it like the sucker he is.

In other roller derby drama, Sean decided to include Sarah, a girl with only one full arm. Not sure what he was trying to prove, other than some insensitivity.

Later on in the group date, Tierra had a full-fledged melt down and went to Sean crying about how she was being “tortured” by the other girls and begged to be sent home. Whatever her plan was, it worked. Sean felt bad for her and ended up giving her the group rose.

And the Oscar for reality TV action goes to.... Tierra!

For the second one-on-one date, Leslie H. got to go shopping with Sean on Rodeo Drive where she got diamond earrings and the opportunity to wear a $500,000 Neil Lane necklace (only for the date, though).

Despite being all glammed up and laying on the charm, Sean told her he wasn’t feeling much of a connection and didn’t give her the rose.

In true reject fashion, Leslie warned him that some of the girls weren’t there for the “right reasons”. Not like we haven’t heard that one before, missy.

At the pre-rose ceremony cocktail party, Tierra took it upon herself to end the tension between her, Robyn, and Jackie and decided to try and have a heart to heart. Another Oscar for Tierra, please!

At the end of the night, poor beat up Amanda finally got the boot despite her group-date trauma. And all of North America let out a little sigh of relief.

Until next week!
