Mara role an ambitious one
By Bill Harris, QMI Agency

Kate Mara's character in House of Cards is not above using her bum for career advancement.

"Oh my gosh, that's such a funny, funny way of saying it," Mara says. "But you're completely right. She will do, I guess, anything to get ahead, including using her bum.

"Well, almost anything. Yeah, she will. She's very, very ambitious, and super driven, and not ashamed at all."

We don't want to get too specific about what occurs between Mara's character, a Washington, D.C., newspaper reporter named Zoe Barnes, and Kevin Spacey's character, Congressman Frank Underwood, in the first episode of House of Cards. But let's just say it sets up a continuing co-dependent relationship where the principals can really help each other or really hurt each other.

"I think Zoe knows she needs to be creative and figure out a way to get ahead on her own, because it's not really happening for her at the newspaper just by following the rules," Mara says.
