Given the recent fate of Don't Trust the B---- in Apartment 23, it's only logical to ponder the present state of Happy Endings.

Not that the two shows were joined at the hip. But they were back-to-back schedule-mates on ABC and City.

Now only one remains. But for how long?

With Don't Trust the B---- yanked from the schedule, ABC aired back-to-back episodes of Happy Endings this past Tuesday. Early indications ratings-wise were that the second of the two episodes likely hit a series low for Happy Endings in the U.S.

Happy Endings always has been fun to gaze at, kind of a Friends wannabe with six nice-looking people, some of them just pals but some of them married or dating off-and-on. Happy Endings definitely is less character-driven than Friends was, but it's way more quippy.

It seems to me that either by design or by accident, Happy Endings gradually has come to focus largely on its two most extreme characters, one male and one female.
