Four years ago, I got a pretty stark demonstration of the impact of The Amazing Race -- courtesy of the pub trivia league I play in, and an opposing team that happened to have a homeless person on its roster.
The guy was interesting and educated, but just happened to be down on his luck and living in shelters.
Up came a round on reality-TV, and a question directed at him, "Who won the most recent edition of The Amazing Race?"
