Now that Diane Kruger is done griping about boyfriend Joshua Jackson shooting Fringe in Vancouver -- away from their home in LA -- it's her turn to take off.

Although Fringe went off the air last month and Jackson promised he wouldn't star in any new shows this season in order to rest, Kruger just agreed to be the lead in The Bridge, a new series that takes place on the Mexican border.

The 36-year-old German actress will play a detective who lives in El Paso, Texas and solves murders along the dusty, isolated U.S.-Mexican border.

FX announced last week it had ordered 13 episodes to air in July. Pre-production begins in a few weeks while intense on-site shooting starts in April.

The Hollywood power couple have homes in Los Angeles and Paris and have been together since 2006, but in the March 2013 issue of UK Glamour, Kruger for the first time admitted how rough it was having had her Canadian beau away half the year shooting his series.
