Actor Ricky Schroder has addressed allegations he was involved in an altercation with an airport worker on Monday, insisting the incident was a “misunderstanding”.

Police were called to Los Angeles International Airport after a female employee claimed the former NYPD Blue star pushed her when she refused to allow him through a security check because he was carrying too many bags.

His lawyer Marty Singer denied the accusations, insisting Schroder himself was hit during the altercation, and now the star has spoken out to give his side of the story.

He tells TMZ.com that he came into contact with the woman by accident, explaining, “My phone dropped and I went to grab it... and that’s what happened”, adding that the bust-up was a “complete misunderstanding”

Schroder went on to apologize to the unnamed staff member, saying, “I apologize to you, Miss, if I hurt your feelings and I didn’t mean to. Sweetheart, God bless you... and I didn’t mean to hurt your feelings.”
