'American Idol' recap: The results
By Jane Stevenson, QMI Agency

And the first Top Ten American Idol finalist to be voted off this season was....Curtis.

I blame the red paisley blazer he wore Wednesday night.

Not even the big note he hit on Thursday night during I Believe I Can Fly hoping to be saved by the judges (it had to be unanimous) did the trick.

Of the four judges, Nicki Minaj (on time Thursday night and decked out in hot pants and boots after being tardy Wednesday night) felt rushed: "I think we needed more time."

Anyways, now it's bye-bye Curtis with nine remaining.

Another twist, the top male and female runners up reappeared to sing for a spot on the American Idol summer tour with odd-ball Charlie outsinging glamour-puss Aubrey if you ask me.

Other performances included those by New Jersey rockers Bon Jovi (Because We Can), last year's winner and Dave Matthews soundalike Phillip Phillips (Gone Gone Gone) and the Top Ten finalists doing some goofy song called Shine Your Way from the upcoming animated film, The Croods, in a bit of shameless cross-promotion.
