LOS ANGELES – Let’s file this under the category “Irreplaceable Canadians” for $500.

And the answer is, of course, Alex Trebek.

There’s been some unimaginative rumours that Sony Pictures, the producers of the long-running game show, Jeopardy!, is “quietly” looking to replace the well-heeled Trebek when his contract ends in 2016 and he turns 75.

The New York Post ran a list of “possible” replacements including the Today’s show Matt Lauer and CNN’s Anderson Cooper. Ken Jennings – the long-time Jeopardy! champ – is also making it known that if there’s a hosting job opening on the show, he wants it.

Scrreech. Stop!
