J.R. Ewing tops TV villains list

Larry Hagman's Dallas character J.R. Ewing has topped a new list of U.S. TV villains.

The late star's tyrannical oil tycoon beat out The Simpsons' Mr. Burns and Breaking Bad bad guy Gus Fring to take the top spot on TV Guide magazine's new countdown.

Star Trek: The Next Generation, Voyager's The Borg and The One Armed Man in The Fugitive round out the top five, while Ian McShane's Deadwood character Al Swearengen, Dynasty's Alexis Colby, played by Joan Collins, and Simon Cowell make the top 10.

Reality TV mogul Cowell is the only non-character to make the list.
