Glee's Cory Monteith tribute episode on Fox Thursday night gave the hit show its biggest ratings in years.

Almost 7.5 million viewers tuned in to see the emotional special, which served as both a memorial to the tragic actor and his Glee character Finn Hudson, who was killed off on the show.

Original castmembers returned for the episode, and Monteith's TV stepfather Mike O'Malley took to Twitter.com on Friday to share a further tribute.

O'Malley wrote, "Cory Monteith was an amazing guy. I wish he was still with us. His Legacy to many who knew him: Kindness to others."

Castmate Darren Criss had also tweeted about Monteith's loss ahead of Thursday's tribute, adding, "Dearest Gleeks, saying goodbye is terribly difficult - we at glee have had our time. Tonight's ep (episode) is not just for Cory, but for all of you."

Monteith died from a drug and alcohol-related overdose in July.
