It certainly would be a twist on the dating scene.

“What would you think if someone said, 'Oh, that girl you're talking to, she's got a computer chip in her brain and she's accessing your entire life as she's talking to you?' ” Meghan Ory asked rhetorically. “It would be a little weird. It would throw you off, probably.”

Um, probably, to say the least. But someone with that ability is at the heart of Ory's new series Intelligence, which debuts Tuesday, Jan. 7 on CBS and CTV.

Josh Holloway, who you will remember played James ‘Sawyer’ Ford on Lost, portrays Gabriel Black, a high-tech operative enhanced with a super-computer microchip in his brain. With his implant, Gabriel is the first human to be connected directly into the global information grid.

“He basically has access to anything with an electronic signature,” says Ory, a Canadian actress who plays a secret service agent named Riley. You'll recognize Ory for her role as Ruby/Red Riding Hood on ABC’s Once Upon a Time.

“For instance, when (Gabriel) meets Riley (who has been hired to protect him), you kind of see a bunch of photos flash by, there are home movies playing in the background, files on me that have been stored online, on Facebook or Twitter," Ory explained. "Anything you do that is attached in any way to an electronic device, he can access.

“He's super-WiFi.”

And Ory's Riley is the viewers' window into this high-tech world.

“The director said that to me on Day 1 - no pressure! - because the other characters have been working with Josh's character for a while,” Ory said. “I come in out of nowhere and I'm trying to figure out what this is all about.

“Sometimes you read a pilot and think, 'This is amazing, I love it, this is a story that should be told,' but it stops at the pilot and you wonder where the series goes. This has a path into the future. I want to see where they're going to take it.”

If nothing else, at least Ory gets to wear regular clothes in Intelligence, unlike her character in Once Upon a Time. Oddly, seeing Ory in a snappy, normal pantsuit was once of the first things I noticed.

“I know!” Ory said with a laugh. “We shoot Once Upon a Time in Vancouver, and I have been very cold on that show. I didn't wear pants so much. So I'm very excited about wearing clothes.”

Even though additional clothing might be considered an impediment, is there a chance Riley will become a love interest for Gabriel?

“It's quite possible,” Ory said. “We will be spending a lot of time together. And we do butt heads a little bit, which kind of leads to tension in the TV world.”

Sexual tension, that is.

Meghan Ory's Riley just needs to remember that Gabriel instantly can access everything about her. Those embarrassing photos from that big drunk-fest three years ago that you thought you had trashed? Busted, babe.
