Although it has been home to many tears and heartbreak, The Bachelor has also been a pillar of modern day fairy-tales and ‘happily ever afters’ over many seasons.
In a special edition episode Sunday night, the hit show gave viewers an in-depth look at their favourite bachelor and bachelorette couples to see how their love stories have continued after the cameras stopped rolling, giving us faith that the love is real.
The special showcased all the success stories of the reality show since its inception, from previous bachelor Sean Lowe and his fiance Catherine Giudici, who are to share their “I dos” in a televised ceremony next Sunday, to the love story that sparked it all, Trista and Ryan Sutter, who recently renewed their vows after 10 years of marriage.
Most recent bachelorette and fan-favourite Desiree Hartsock and her fiance Chris Siegfried are engaged, living together in Seattle. The pair feel like high school sweethearts.
“Never in a million years did I think I’d meet my match on a TV show, but that’s what happened,” says Des as the two lovebirds are in the process of planning their wedding.
Next, Ashley and J.P Rosenbaum, who found love on season 7 of The Bachelorette and married in 2012, shared that they are looking forward to expanding their family in the near future. Ashley admitted she has ‘baby fever’.
Trista and Ryan Sutter married 10 years ago in front of 26 million people during one of the 21st century’s most watched specials. The couple has continued to live out their modern day fairy-tale with their two children.
To celebrate a decade of love, they renewed their vows in a ceremony that included their friends and family where they reflected on their time together and where it all began, including their first kiss during the first-ever season of The Bachelorette. Trista looked as though she hadn’t aged a day since their iconic wedding as Ryan placed a brand new diamond ring on her finger.
The hour-long special also caught up with Sean and Catherine, who rode off into the sunset on an elephant in Thailand in last season’s The Bachelor finale; they are preparing for their wedding next week. While taking a look at their venue and honeymoon suite, the couple explained their excitement for not only the wedding itself, but for their new lives together.
The Bachelor Season 18 with Juan Pablo Galavis continues Monday night.
