Youngest 'Idol' contestant ousted
By TARA MERRIN -- Calgary Sun
Mikalah Gordon, the youngest of the American Idol hopefuls, was ditched from the U.S. singing competition last night. The 17-year-old Fran Drescher lookalike from Las Vegas, received the lowest number of votes for her rendition of Taylor Dane's Love Will Lead You Back. Judge Simon Cowell called her performance a "complete and utter mess" during the live show Tuesday night. Joining Gordon in the bottom three were Nadia Turner, who sang a punked out version of Cindy Lauper's Time After Time, and Anthony Federov with his take on I Knew You Were Waiting For Me. The results from the show will likely come under fire from Gordon's fans. The young singer was one of three victims of a flubbed display of phone numbers used by viewers to choose their favourite contestant on Tuesday, forcing Fox to air the show again on Wednesday. |
