One of my favorite television programs is America's Castles, a show that appears on the Arts & Entertainment Network (Rogers cable 31) every Sunday night at 10 p.m. Each week a magnificent baronial residence located somewhere in the U.S. is featured. George Washington Vanderbilt II's 1890-1895 creation, Biltmore House in North Carolina, and Randolph Hearst's $50-million La Cuesta Encantata near San Simeon, California, are but two of the many "castles" that have been featured. The vast majority have been located in America.
