Trump picks his Apprentice tonight
By SARAH KENNEDY -- Calgary Sun

Donald Trump admits he's stumped. After three months, the world's most publicized job interview will end and The Donald will choose between the manipulative Jennifer Massey and the no-nonsense Kelly Perdew on the finale of The Apprentice. And, says the billionaire with the famously bad hair, he doesn't know who he's going to hire.

"Last year, I felt beforehand I was going to go with Bill," says Trump. "This year, I have no idea. I think they're both really talented."

But Kevin Allen, a recent victim of the Trump firing squad who made it to the final four, tells the Sun he has no doubt who the winner should be. "Kelly absolutely deserves to win. His record as project manager is 3-0 and on paper, he is the best person in the game," says Allen. "Jen is manipulative and has to be in the spotlight no matter what. She creates circumstances that work for her."

For viewers,Trump's decision to keep Massey in the game may have come as a bit of a shock -- she was increasingly shown ducking the radar -- but the boss says he likes her tough and manipulative tactics.

Trump will base his decision on how the final two conduct themselves as project managers in their final, independent challenge.

But a recent lawsuit threat against the network could spoil the pseudo cliffhanger of last week's show and the identity of the overall winner. Last week, Massey whose final task was to organize a charity basketball game, announced that basketball player Chris Webber would emcee the event. But doubts of whether Webber would make an appearance were cast by his publicist and the show ended with a "will he or won't he?" conundrum.

However, the website realityTVworld.com announced that after the airing of last week's show, Webber's lawyers have threatened legal action for using his celebrity status to entice viewers. "There was never a part in the show," Webber told the Sacramento Bee.

If Trump is solely basing his decision on the success of tonight's final project, Massey could be in trouble. But perhaps she always was. Allen says there has been speculation that Jennifer made it this far because Trump wanted a female in the final two. Although he hopes that's not the case. "This has got to be about the best person," he says during a phone interview from a Trump Tower room in New York. "I would be very disappointed to learn that he pitted me against Jen and Kelly against Sandy because he wanted a woman in the final two."

Allen's own fate on the show ended last week when Trump told the 29-year-old law student that he thought he had too much education and not enough hands-on experience. "I think it's ludicrous to say I have too many degrees," says Allen.

It may seem impossible for Trump to make a overly informed hiring choice because his time spent with the contestants was so limited. But Allen says that wasn't entirely the case. "He came and talked to us a lot off-air. He and Melania (his young fiance) would come to the suite. He was very involved. He takes this very seriously."

Thirty million viewers are expected to tune in tonight.
