All-Stars shine on BB7 debut
By JOHN POWELL -- JAM! Showbiz
Fans voted. The producers made their picks. ‘Big Brother’ now has its all-stars. ‘Big Brother All-Stars’, the seventh season of the CBS summer reality series, debuted strongly last night but many of the surprises the producers had in store for viewers fell flat due to a glitch on the 24/7 live feeds on Tuesday. With the feeds mistakenly revealing who the 14 returning HouseGuests were and the first major twist, not much was left to startle them. At the start of the broadcast, host Julie Chen revealed the top four instead of top three female and male HouseGuests fans had voted for. Chen pulled keys for Janelle, Erika, Nakomis, Diane, Howie, Kaysar, James and Jase. The revelation that Erika, one of the most unpopular HouseGuests in ‘Big Brother’ history, had somehow made the cut turned out to be the biggest shock of the debut. Chen then unveiled the producers’ picks. ‘Dr. Evil’ Will, Danielle, Marcellas, Alison, Mike ‘Boogie’ and ‘Chicken’ George joined the rest as returning players. In her Diary Room interview, Erika thanked fans for picking her. “Thank you, America, for bringing me back to the Big Brother house,” she said. In contrast, Diane questioned Erika’s inclusion as part of the cast. “Erika doesn’t deserve to be an All-Star,” Diane stated matter-of-factly in the Diary Room claiming Erika did nothing at all during her first stint on the series. The knives were out early on as ‘Dr. Evil’ Will and his friend outside of the house Mike ‘Boogie’ stared down at all of the HouseGuests in the kitchen. “Look down at all the victims,” said Will. “Don’t make yourself too comfortable, Will,” shouted Kaysar from down below. As was given away during the Tuesday feed hiccup, the HouseGuests participated in the first Head of Household Competition of ‘Big Brother All-Stars’. With the players hurling a 50 pound faux meteor at each other while a fountain of slime spewed goo, Jase and Janelle were the last ones standing. They are the co-HOH for the week. As such, they had to decide on whom to nominate or they themselves would be put on the block. With several schemers in the house, the plotting on the debut was fast and furious with the Season Six Alliance automatically in everyone’s crosshairs. Alison and Danielle hatched a plan to get Janelle out by convincing Jase to dispute the nominations. Jase sided with the Season Six Alliance and agreed to nominate both Danielle and Alison due to all of their conniving behaviour. Since the Veto Competition is still to come, Danielle and Alison have the opportunity to possibly null their nominations. Fans won’t see the results of the competition though until next Tuesday when the next episode of ‘Big Brother: All-Stars’ airs.
