Another 'BB' live show goes bust

It was all smoke and no fire. More live foul ups and mix-ups had viewers laughing at and not with Big Brother's Tuesday night live eviction episode.

After taking an entire day to erect an impressive, fog-spewing volcano in the middle of the backyard for the first part of the final Head of Household competition and hoping for some high drama, the producers saw what was supposed to be a grueling endurance competition go up in flames in a matter of minutes on live television. As per the rules of the game, the HouseGuests were supposed to stand on ledges on the volcano while holding onto a key. The first one to let go or whose feet touched the mat below would be eliminated.

With his ChillTown compatriot, Will 'Dr. Evil' Kirby evicted, Mike Malin threw the challenge immediately.

"Remember Richard Hatch, Julie? They (Erika Landin or Janelle Pierzina) have to take me," said Mike to host Julie Chen making a reference to how Hatch played the final Immunity Challenge in the first season of 'Survivor'. Hatch quit the endurance challenge when he realized both Kelly Wiglesworth and Rudy Boesch would choose him over the other to bring to the jury vote.

Mike stepped off the volcano leaving a bewildered Chen to awkwardly throw to a commercial break as viewers at home clearly saw Janelle take one of her hands off a key embedded in the volcano thus disqualifying her from the competition.

"The ladies have a tough night ahead of them and things are about to erupt," said Chen eagerly before the commercial break.

When the show returned, the infraction was replayed, Erika was declared the winner and viewers never did see what "Mount HOH" was capable of doing, if anything.

Gracelessly, Chen read from cue cards as if she were deciphering Morse Code as she explained the 'Big Brother' television schedule for the next week. As the broadcast was thrown back to the live happenings inside the house, one player asked "Are we still live?" adding a final unintended punch line to a clumsy broadcast which was as painful to watch as the last muddled live show.

Chances are the second part of the final Head of Household Competition will play out on the live 24/7 Internet feeds and the last portion will be held on Thursday's live show during which we'll discover who the final two "All-Stars" are.

Earlier in the evening, Janelle won the final and previously recorded Veto Competition. Like several of the competitions this season, it was conducted in a controversial manner with HouseGuests complaining about it over the holiday weekend on the 24/7 live Internet feeds.

"Do you find it funny that they redid the faulty HOH but not the last Veto Competition," Erika asked Mike in the Head of Household room on Monday evening.

"If Janelle ends up winning, you might want to meet with a lawyer," Malin advised Erika.

"Don't you find that odd that they would do that game over but not this one?" continued Erika.

"The s--t shouldn't have been falling of the wall to begin with. The hooks should have held the pictures. It is all bulls--t. I have given up," replied Mike explaining how the hooks did not function well during the final Veto Competition.

None of the grousing was shown on the television broadcast.

On the live show, Janelle used the Power of Veto and removed herself from the block. As HOH, Mike was forced to nominate his ChillTown partner in crime, Will 'Dr. Evil' Kirby.

"By default, I cannot believe this is actually going to come out of my mouth but I have to nominate my ChillTown man, Will," said Mike.

"Well, this is an extremely hard position to be in. I am friends with both of you. Will, I feel like you are the closest person to me. This summer, I have made a lot of mistakes in the house and after tonight I am done making mistakes. For Marcellas and Howie, I vote to evict you, Will," said Janelle as Dr. Evil was finally sent packing.

"You can do the best you can. I came in here with a big target on my back and it eventually caught up with me. There are only so many lies you can tell. It was an interesting experience. I cannot say that I am surprised," Will, the former 'Big Brother 2' winner, said to Julie Chen on the Couch of Shame.

"I think I underestimated Erika. Erika can really plant seeds well. I think she got inside Janelle's brain. I think this is a decision Janelle is going to regret in future," said Will summing up his defeat.

As far as the supposed budding romance between himself and Janelle, Will put that to rest.

"A lie can become real but for me, it was kind of a game all along. Although I do feel close to her and I feel like she was a great friend at the end of the day, it was a game and once I walked out that door, it is a whole other show," he explaining that Janelle was playing him as much as he was toying with her.

Before entering the house, Will was dating Erin Brody from TV's 'For Love or Money'.

In her goodbye message to Will, Erika revealed that she and Janelle had figured out ChillTown had been manipulating them all along.

"It looks like the gig is up, kid. You have been found out and so has Boogie. You didn't think the two girls would get together and talk, did you?" stated Erika.

Viewers not only got to see the Puppet Master's strings cut but also footage from the sequester house. Having moved to a new house because of an approaching hurricane in Mexico, the jurors welcomed recent evictees Danielle Reyes and 'Chicken' George Boswell to their new abode. Howie continued to argue with Marcellas Reynolds and had it out with George while they watched an HOH Competition. Howie called George a "fat ass" and a "waste of an HOH". An angry George got up and left the room terming Howie as a 10 year-old boy trapped in a 37-year-old man's body. Juror James Rhine thanked George for acting like an adult despite the situation.

The live finale of 'Big Brother All-Stars' airs on September 12th. On it, the seven jurors will vote for who will win the grand prize of $500,000 U.S.

"Big Brother: All-Stars" airs Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday nights at 8pm ET on CH in Ontario and British Columbia and on Global in the Maritimes, Quebec, Winnipeg, Saskatoon and Regina.
