Boogie's night on 'BB' finale
By -- JAM! Showbiz

The beast beat the beauty.

Mike "Boogie" Malin, the restaurateur, became the winner of 'Big Brother: All-Stars" defeating his "showmance" Erika Landin, the pilates instructor, by a landslide vote of 6 to 1 on the season finale. Along with a host of other prizes he won this season, Malin will pocket the $500,000 U.S. grand prize while Landin takes home $50,000 U.S.

Marcellas Reynolds, the former host of 'House Calls', the 'Big Brother' Internet talk show, was the sole vote for Landin to win.

"I owe Will a jet ski and a gold chain from last time," Malin jokingly told host Julie Chen referring to his good friend and 'ChillTown' Alliance member, Will 'Dr. Evil' Kirby.

In a reversal of roles, Kirby pulled off the impossible and aided Malin to his 'All-Stars' victory just as Malin helped Kirby win 'Big Brother 2' in 2001.

"I am very excited about that," said Landin of winning second place. What she wasn't too pleased about though was when Malin's disrespectful remarks about her were revealed on the live show. Throughout the season, Malin romanced Landin in the house while he spitefully ridiculed her and their relationship in the secret confines of the Diary Room even though it is rumoured that the two were dating before the series began. Landin has admitted helping CBS cast such reality shows as 'Survivor' and 'The Amazing Race' in the past on the 24/7 Live 'Big Brother' Internet feeds.

Despite being the most blatant alliance in the game and Will 'Dr. Evil' Kirby being the most infamous and feared 'Big Brother' player of all time, 'ChillTown' slithered their way into the final four by fooling the other players into believing they were "honourary members" until the time came to cut them loose. Coercing Janelle Pierzina and Erika Landin into twisted "showmances" where the couples manipulated and used each other to get further in the game helped too.

Tearing a page out of the 'Survivor' All-Stars season, the producers permitted America to vote on a special Jury Prize leading up to the finale. Janelle Pierzina, one of the most popular HouseGuests to ever appear on the series, secured the $25,000 U.S. prize, although the producers once again did not reveal the final tally of a public vote. Janelle, who set a 'Big Brother' record for challenges won on a single season, thanked America for the honour.

With their amusing 'Diary Room' phone calls, goofy celebration dances, vicious backstabbing and dueling "showmances", 'ChillTown' was the bright spot in an otherwise poorly played season that was dominated by HouseGuests routinely forfeiting challenges, weak "floaters" refusing to take sides and strong competitors shying away from making bold moves for fear of drawing too much attention to themselves. 'All-Star' game play it was not.

In a humourous moment, Diane Henry and Jase Wirey immitated one of ChillTown's phone calls and admitted there was a Mr. and Mrs. Smith Alliance early on in the game...and it was them, as many had predicted.

Accused by fans and HouseGuests alike of coaching players in the Diary Room and manipulating challenges many times in the past to achieve the results they desired, the producers were once again under heavy fire this season. Many fans found the timing of certain challenges to be suspicious in nature, such as the "desperation Vetoes" held for Janelle and 'Chicken' George Boswell, and many believed the decision to include so many trivia challenges was made so that Janelle and her Season Six alliance would have a better chance at winning. The outcry of "rigging" became so fevered that Executive Producer Arnold Shapiro took to the 'House Calls' airwaves midway through the season to defend the production.

As many of the despondent HouseGuests proclaimed on the 24/7 live Internet feeds time and time again, the 'All-Stars' season did not live up to the hype as the uninspired producers coasted their way through yet another series. The luxury prizes were few and far between. The challenges were mostly lackluster trivia or memory contests. The live broadcasts were riddled with embarrassing gaffes, including an unforgettable endurance contest that lasted all of five minutes.

The 'All-Stars' series played out no differently that any other season with the producers putting more time and effort into altering the décor of the Head of Household room every week than the game itself. Another 'Big Brother' season has ended and the series still hasn't reached it's full potential or won back the viewers it has lost since Season Three. Although CBS has begun a casting call for a possible 'Big Brother 8' by posting applications on their Web site, there is no official word if the series or the producers will be returning.
