"Big Brother," the CBS reality summer show, is getting it own spinoff.
In an effort to make the series a "multiplatform experience," CBS will be offering not only the usual 24/7 live Internet feeds but will be partnering with Showtime to air three hours of live action from the "Big Brother" house every night.
"Big Brother: After Dark" will be broadcast from 12:00-3:00 AM, ET/PT seven days a week, on the U.S. 'SHOTOO' channel starting on Thursday, July 5, the start date of "Big Brother 8."
"Big Brother 8" itself will air on CBS and Global Television in Canada on Tuesday night (9:00-10:00 PM, ET/PT), the live eviction show, hosted by Julie Chen, on Thursday night (8:00-9:00 PM live ET/delayed PT) and Sunday night (8:00-9:00 PM, ET/PT).
CBS will also be making episodes available online for fans to watch or incorporate into their Internet fan sites or blogs.
"Big Brother 8" will share its debut night with "Pirate Master" but following that, "Pirate Master" will move to its new home from 10:00 to 11:00 p.m. on Tuesday nights.
Once again, CBS and RealNetworks will be making the 24/7 live streams from the house available for a subscription fee. The entire three-month live 24/7 Internet feed will be available through the RealNetwork SuperPass. According to RealNetworks, the feeds will cost $39.99 U.S. for all three months or $14.99 U.S. per month. Fans can get more information at the official RealNetworks site...www.real.com/big brother.
CBS is once again offering the feeds with a catch, as in the past, they may "block or delay the webcast for a limited number of real-time events that transpire in the house".
CBS is also bringing back the popular "House Calls" talk show. Hosted by Gretchen Massey, free streaming video talk show will be broadcast every Monday through Friday (1:00 PM/ET, 10:00 AM/PT) on CBS.com. There is no mention if former host and "Big Brother" player Marcellas Reynolds will be returning to the show or not.
