The Newfoundland-set CBC series Republic of Doyle will return for a second season. However, CBC’s The Border, which was set in Toronto, will not be back for a fourth season.

CBC has made no official announcement regarding Republic of Doyle or The Border, but a report surfaced in The Hollywood Reporter over the weekend, and the news subsequently has been confirmed by sources.

Republic of Doyle, starring Allan Hawco, currently is in the midst of its rookie campaign. What will now stand as The Border’s final season aired last fall.
