In Margaret Konopacki's new documentary Bullets, Love & Beer, which airs Jan. 4 on Bravo, her subject, American crime-fiction writer Robert Parker, blurs so thoroughly with his fictional character Spenser, that one's left unsure if Parker invented Spenser or if Spenser invented Parker.
But what really makes her hour-long profile of the author, whose celebrity eclipses literary circles, more riveting than the cookie-cutter cable bio-pics is that Konopacki is less concerned with the nuts and bolts of Parker's life than the creative process and ethical principles that sustain hard-nosed gumshoe Spenser.
