Despite the fiasco that was "Who Wants To Marry A Multi-Millionaire," ABC has opted to take on reality-TV matrimony.
The Hollywood Reporter says ABC is producing six one-hour episodes of "The Bachelor," which will see a single male choose his ideal mate from among dozens of hopeful women.
The series will begin with 15 contestants and gradually whittle away the number to a final three, before the bachelor makes his final selection. The Hollywood Reporter said the series will examine the daily lives of the wanna-be brides and their experiences as they date the bachelor and meet his family.
The series, to air during the upcoming TV season, will climax with the proposal and the bride's decision on whether to accept or not.
Once a nationwide hunt for the bachelor is completed, ABC will launch an extensive promotional campaign, encouraging women to apply to be his bride.
If the series succeeds, the network will follow up with a gender-reversed version, "The Bachelorette," The Hollywood Reporter said.
