|Lindsay and Sean on the first night.
'The Bachelor' season finally came to a close as Sean was forced to make a pick between the two remaining women, Catherine and Lindsay. The 'historic' season finale, as host Chris Harrison put it, was a three-hour special that kicked off at Seanís family home.
First up meeting Sean's darling family is Catherine, the one he says makes him laugh the most. He warns them that sheís weird and goofy. His family grills her with all the classic questions and she doesnít do too poorly. Catherine lets Seanís mom know that sheís been slipping Sean notes the entire season telling Sean how she felt about him.
Despite Catherineís obvious nerves, Seanís mom gives Catherine the seal of approval and his dad isnít too far behind. Dad tells her that if she marries Sean, heíll be behind her 100% of the way. Catherine sheds some tears during the super-touching moment.
Lindsay meets the family and they donít neglect to ask her what she was thinking when she arrived in the wedding dress. They all laugh it off and Lindsay takes it in stride.
When Lindsay sits down with each of his parents, sheís a little less nervous and opens up to Seanís dad right away. Lindsay asks him if heíd be okay with her marrying Sean and he says yes, of course. When Lindsay meets Seanís mom, she instantly wins her over. Seanís mom says that she loved how open Lindsay was with her heart.
It seems like Sean is more confused than he was before his family met the women.
When Sean sits down with his family later, his dad says that either pick is a win-win decision. The family agrees that each woman is great. His mother tells Sean that sheís worried he wonít be sure of his choice when he purposes. His mom gets emotional because she doesnít see how heís going to make a decision in such a short amount of time.
On Seanís final date with Lindsay he decides to take her out on the river in Thailand for a romantic boat ride. They chat and laugh and seem super in love. After, they sit and talk about getting old together and Lindsay tells him how much she loves him.
For Catherineís date the couple take an elephant ride. They look like theyíre having a blast and sit and chat under the sun and everything seems normal and happy. Later that night, she tells Sean that sheís never felt the way she does before. Sean tells her that he pictures them together a lot and sheís always on his mind.
When they say goodbye later in the night, Catherine gets emotional. They hug for a long time and shed some tears. She tells him she loves him. When Sean leaves, Catherine runs after him crying for one last goodbye.
At the rose ceremony, Lindsay is the first one who gets to face Sean. He tells her that as of yesterday he didnít know what he was doing, but he knows his heart is not with her. Lindsay handles it with grace and leaves as quickly as she can, wishing him good luck and shedding a few tears in the limo.
When itís Catherineís turn, Sean gets a letter instead. Itís just a classic love letter, however. She still shows up to accept his proposal.
"I think the world of you. Every time we have to say goodbye I miss you. I don't want to say goodbye anymore," he says. He gets down on one knee and with shaky hands, she says yes.
ďIs this for real!?Ē she says once he gets back up.
They take one final elephant ride off into the sunset together.
The special news was that the couple has signed on with ABC to film the wedding once a date is set -- er -- if a date is ever set.
Oh, and the big, big news of the night? Desiree will be next seasonís Bachelorette.
Something to look forward to!
