Calgarian lands spot on Top Model
By TARA MERRIN - Calgary Sun

One of Calgary's own is in the running to become Canada's Next Top Model.

Dawn, a 22-year-old local bartender, has been named one of the 10 finalists who will complete to become the country's hottest up-and-coming model on Citytv's new reality series.

While living in a luxurious waterfront property on Vancouver Island, Dawn (whose last name is being withheld by the network) and the rest of the hopefuls will learn how to become supermodels through weekly challenges.

They must master the runway and fashion photo shoots, perfect their publicity skills and learn the business aspects of modelling -- all as the cameras roll.

Throughout the series, the participants will be mentored by host Canadian actor/former supermodel Tricia Helfer and special weekly guest experts.

Then Helfer, along with the judges, FT-FashionTelevision's Jeanne Beker, celebrity hair and makeup stylist Paul Venoit, and model and runway coach Stacey McKenzie, will eliminate one girl each week until only the winner remains.

On the line is a $100,000 beauty contract from Procter & Gamble, a modeling contract with Sutherland Models and an editorial spread in Fashion Magazine.

Joining Dawn in her quest is fellow Albertan Sylvie, a 23-year-old area supervisor for the Salvation Army in Sherwood Park.

Canada's Next Top Model, a homegrown spinoff of the Tyra Banks reality series America's Next Top Model, will premiere on Citytv on May 31.
