'Deal' winner ended up a loser
By BILL HARRIS - Sun Media

Montreal's Jenny Monaco (left) poses with host Howie Mandel and Barbara Williams, of CanWest MediaWorks, after Monaco won $215,000 on last night's episode of Deal Or No Deal Canada.

You just won $215,000, and we are so, so, so sorry.

Normally, that sentence would seem ridiculous. But consider the case of Montreal's Jenny Monaco, who won $215,000 in the episode of Deal Or No Deal Canada that aired on Global last night at 10.

In case you're not familiar with how the game show works, there are 26 briefcases - held by 26 beautiful models - each with a different dollar amount inside, from one cent to $1 million.

Contestants are asked to choose one briefcase for themselves, and as the game continues numerous briefcases are eliminated from contention.

At regular intervals, the mysterious banker calculates the odds and relays monetary offers to the contestants through host Howie Mandel.

If the participants accept the banker's offer, then they give up the amount that is hidden in their own briefcases.

So after many twists and turns, and much agonizing, the very pregnant Monaco was offered $215,000.

She accepted.

Who wouldn't?

Then they opened up her briefcase, just to see what she had given up.

Gulp - $1 million.

So poor, unfortunate Jenny Monaco made a bad deal ... and still took home almost a quarter of a million dollars.

One episode of Deal Or No Deal Canada remains. Is it too late to sign up to be a contestant on this sucker?
