The Degrassi franchise, which apparently has more lives than an alley cat, will live on in soap-opera form this summer on MuchMusic.
Degrassi: The Next Generation is bouncing from CTV to MuchMusic for its 10th season. The series — which is the latest instalment in the long-running Degrassi saga — now will air five times a week.
While Degrassi: TNG has continued to be a saleable property in other countries, in recent years Canadian ratings have been low as the series aired once a week on CTV.
Production on 48 new half-hour episodes begins later this month in Toronto. Some of the cast members from the ninth season will be back, including Melinda Shankar, who plays Alli Bhandari.
The 10th season of Degrassi: TNG also will air this summer on the U.S. cable channel TeenNick.
