Bring back mean Katherine!
Bring back mean Katherine!
Bring back mean Katherine!
If we had organized a Desperate Housewives rally over the summer, that's what the crowd would have been chanting.
When Dana Delany joined the cast of Desperate Housewives to play Katherine Mayfair two seasons ago, her character was deliciously dangerous. Last season, however, Katherine was reduced to something of a lovesick doormat.
"My first season, I was the mystery and I was kind of evil," Delany said. "Last season, I think Marc (Cherry, series creator) thought that in order to keep me on Wisteria Lane, we needed to see Katherine's vulnerability.
"But now that we've done that, he's letting me have my edge back, which I'm happy about. It's more fun. I said to him, 'Please let me be snarky next year.' And he's letting me.
"Katherine is kind of a lightning rod for (the audience). There are some people who really don't like her and some people who really do like her. And that's fine, I think that means it's a good character. But I think overall, people liked it better when Katherine was a little tougher."
Hear, hear!
