Desperate Housewives creator Marc Cherry knows how, but not when.
"I absolutely know the last scene of the show," said Cherry, whose series, which airs on ABC and CTV, is entering its seventh season.
"I'm a big fan of the Harry Potter books and a big fan of J.K. Rowling. I identify with her a little bit, because she was really pretty low and all of a sudden she found this massive success, and I certainly went through my own version of that.
"And I love the fact that she always said she knew the last chapter of the Harry Potter books. That got me thinking way back in season one of how I wanted to end the show."
Cherry currently is writing another pilot for ABC, so if that gets picked up, by next summer he might be running a new series and merely advising on Desperate Housewives.
"So we'll work with ABC and the ladies (Desperate Housewives cast), and when we know when the last season is, I will tell all my writing staff, 'OK, here's what we're writing to,' " Cherry said. "Then we will build that last season accordingly.
"I'm doing a hybrid with J.K. Rowling: Desperate Witches."
