Lethbridge native now Hype-active
By TYLER McLEOD
PASADENA -- Lethbridge, Alberta. Los Angeles.

They're both L.A., aren't they?

"There's actually not that many differences between Lethbridge and Los Angeles. It's very frightening," says Lethbridge-born comic actor Gavin Crawford.

"The only thing is all the women here have slightly higher boobs."

Crawford is a cast member of the WB network's primetime sketch comedy Hype, which starts filming next week and has been bought by CTV.

Hype was created by the Mad TV writers behind its Felicity spoof and hopes to parody the most current pop culture figures and trends.

"I had to watch a lot of American cable when I got down here to figure out who was who, what kind of stuff I should and should not be doing. But we get most of it," Crawford says.

"I'm a mimic so all I have to do is be surrounded by all these Americans. I just parrot back the people who are talking to me," he says.

Crawford's still on the lookout for housing in L.A. as he's there at least until November -- or March, should WB pick up another 13 episodes.

More episodes of his self-titled Comedy Network series may follow upon his return to Toronto.
